Yesterday I wrote about the three main reasons I love running: energy, stress relief and age (perception) reversal. All good reasons. But today I realized another reason. I’m not sure what to call it. Maybe you can help me out.
Let me begin by saying that I am a pretty conservative woman when it comes to fashion. I wear a lot of black. My shoes—summer and winter—usually are black. My purses are black. Most of my pants are black. My dressy dresses are always black. My other main color is navy. That’s the “business/dress me.”
The “sports me,” however, is a little more venturesome. Granted, my shorts and pants are always black, but my shirts are always neon. Today I bought a new pair of running shoes. I’m downright giddy about my next run. Just looking at them makes me smile. Is it just me, or do they make you happy, too?
So how would you label this reason for running? Fashion? Liberation? Self-expression? Schizophrenia?
This is Day 11 of my 30-day challenge, and my chain is still unbroken. How are you doing? Some great comments are coming in. If you don’t see them automatically, be sure to click the “comments” thread below each post. If you want to encourage the commenters, you can “reply” to their comments as well as make a comment of your own. And feel free to comment on my new shoes!
